The Verdict

The port: one street, a few tavernas and a small beach — you arrive, eat, and go up to Chora.

Why go

Karavostasis is where the ferries dock and it is nothing more than a row of tavernas along a small harbour, with a decent beach at one end and the cliff of Chrysospilia rising to the north. Arrive early and eat here before the bus up to Chora, or spend an afternoon on the beach while you wait for a boat. It is a port, not a place to stay.
