Chora

The Verdict

One of the most beautiful villages in Greece, on the edge of a cliff, and the reason to come to Folegandros.

Why go

Chora is small, mostly closed to traffic, and built along the lip of a two-hundred-metre cliff. The Kastro quarter at one end is medieval, with houses built into the walls of the Venetian fortification, and the church of Panagia sits on a rock above the whole village at the top of a zigzag path. In the evening the squares fill and the effect is theatrical. Stay here rather than at the port.
