What we collect, and what we don't.

This page describes what happens to your data when you use Greece Field Guide. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.

Who we are

Greece Field Guide is a publication of Wayworthy, which is the data controller for this site. This policy covers Greece Field Guide only.

What we collect

  • —Your account, if you make one. Signing in with an email address and password, or with Google, stores your email address and display name so the site can recognise you and keep you signed in. Nothing else is required to use the guide.
  • —Your saved places, on your own device. Saved places are kept in your browser's local storage. They are not uploaded to us, they do not follow you between devices or browsers, and clearing your browser data deletes them. You can also remove them one by one in the guide.
  • —Aggregate reading figures. We look at which pages are read and roughly where visitors arrive from, so we know which parts of the guide are worth extending. This is not used to build a profile of you and is never sold.

Staying signed in

When you sign in, a token is stored in your browser's local storage to keep the session alive. Signing out removes it. The guide sets no advertising cookies of its own, but our affiliate partner sets its own cookies so that a booking made after you follow one of its links can be credited to this guide. Your browser settings let you block or clear them.

Other companies involved

  • —The platform that hosts and serves this site processes account data on our behalf, under our instructions.
  • —If you sign in with Google, Google handles that authentication and sees that you used it here. Their handling of your data is covered by their own policies.
  • —Typefaces load from Google Fonts, which necessarily receives your IP address as part of serving the file.
  • —Travelpayouts and the travel partners it represents serve our commercial links. If you follow one, they receive that click and set their own cookies to attribute any booking to this guide. Their handling of your data is covered by their own policies.

What we do not do

  • —We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
  • —We do not run advertising networks or build behavioural advertising profiles.
  • —We do not take payments through the guide, so we hold no card or billing details.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept for as long as the account exists, and deleted when you ask us to delete it. Reading figures are kept only in aggregate, with nothing that identifies you.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your account and its data to be deleted. Send requests to us through our publisher, Wayworthy. Clearing your saved places needs no request: they are on your own device, and deleting them is up to you.

Children

This guide is written for adult travellers and is not directed at children under 16.
