Commercial disclosure
How this guide makes money, and how it doesn't.
A guide that earns commissions has to be clear about it. Here is the position, today and in future.

What is true today
- —This guide takes part in affiliate programmes, including Travelpayouts. Some links to booking, transport and travel partners are commercial: if you book through one, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra.
- —No place can pay to be included, and no place can pay to be placed higher in a list, a collection, or a comparison. Commission never moves a place up, and no place has been added because of a commercial arrangement.
- —There are no sponsored articles, no paid placements and no advertising sold on the site.
How commercial links work
Where there is a commercial link, it follows these rules:
- —Every commercial link is labelled where it appears, so you know before you click.
- —The editorial verdict comes first and is not negotiable. A commercial arrangement will never add a place, remove a place, or move it up a list.
- —Where we have a commercial relationship with a place, we say so on its page.
- —Booking options sit below the editorial answer, never above it.
What we would not do
- —Sell a ranking, a verdict, or a place in a collection.
- —Let a partner write, approve or edit editorial copy.
- —Hide a commission, or bury a disclosure in small print.
- —Accept payment for a favourable review of anything.
Questions
If you want to know how a specific recommendation was made, or want to query a commercial arrangement, ask us through our publisher, Wayworthy. How we judge places in the first place is set out in our editorial standards.
