Galissas Beach

The Verdict

The best sandy beach on Syros for swimming, and the one the town buses actually reach.

Why go

Galissas is a wide, south-facing sandy bay with shallow water, tamarisk trees at the back and a row of tavernas, about fifteen minutes by bus from Ermoupoli. It is organised with sunbeds but never oppressive, calm in most weather and good for children. The sand is real sand, which in the Cyclades is not a given.
