Nas Beach
Photo: Greece Field Guide
The Verdict
A river mouth on the west coast where sand and scrub meet the sea, with a taverna under the trees.
Why go
Nas is where the river Chalaris comes out on the west coast, and the sand and scrub it drops make a shallow, sheltered beach under the tamarisks, with tavernas behind it and a small temple to Artemis on the headland above. The water is clear and cold where the river runs in, and the sunsets from here are why people drive across the island. The road down is steep — go early and stay for dinner.
Understand the place
