The Verdict

The closest good swim to Skopelos Chora: a small pebble bay with pines on both sides and not much else.

Why go

Stafylos is a small bay with a mix of pebbles and sand, pines on both sides and clear water, five minutes by car or twenty-five on foot from Chora, which makes it the practical swim when you are staying in the town. There is one taverna and no village. The seasonal bus from Chora stops on the road above the bay.
