The Verdict

The port of Alonissos: a stone quay, tavernas on the water, and the boat trips to the marine park leaving from the end of it.

Why go

Patitiri is where the ferries come in, and it is a working port rather than a pretty one: a stone quay, a row of tavernas, a bakery, and the boats that run day trips to the marine park and the uninhabited islands. Most of the island's rooms are here or just along the shore, and the old Chora is three kilometres up the hill behind it — near enough to walk in the evening, if you do not mind the climb back in the dark.
