Paleokastritsa

The Verdict

The most photogenic water on Corfu and the most crowded car park on Corfu. Arrive before ten, or come by boat and skip the road entirely.

Why go

Six bays fold into each other beneath the cliffs, each one with clearer water than the last, and the monastery on the headland gives the whole place its shape. Small boats run from the main bay to sea caves you cannot reach on foot. Swimming here is excellent; the strip of tavernas and the beach car park are not. Go early, swim, and leave before the coaches.
