Firiplaka
The Verdict
The most beautiful beach on Milos, and there is no shade of any kind. Bring water, bring an umbrella, leave before four.
Why go
The cliffs behind the sand run through colours that look geological rather than scenic, and the water shelves into a flat turquoise that stays shallow for a long way out. There is a beach bar on the north end and nothing on the south, which is the half worth walking to. It faces south, so it catches the wind less than the north-coast beaches when the meltemi is strong.
Understand the place
A pale-sand beach under towering volcanic cliffs of ash-white, ochre and rust, in the south of Milos.
