Vlichos Beach

The Verdict

Not a beach in the sunbathing sense, but the best reason to walk the coast east of town. Swim first, then eat at the water.

Why go

Vlichos is where the coastal path flattens out and the tavernas begin, with tables set almost at the tideline and pebbles under the clear water. The walk out takes twenty to thirty minutes from the harbour and passes several emptier swimming spots on the way. Come mid-afternoon, swim, and stay for a late lunch. Then either walk back in the evening light or take a water taxi.

Understand the place

A pebble cove with tavernas at the water, twenty minutes' walk east of Hydra Town and the reward at the end of the coastal path.
