Papafragas

The Verdict

A ten-minute stop that photographs far better than it swims. Look, take the picture, move on.

Why go

The sea has cut a corridor through soft white rock that you can walk down into, opening onto a small dark-water cove with sheer sides. Getting in and out of the water is awkward and the space is tiny, so most people photograph it from the road above and continue. Pair it with the north-coast drive, which is the best stretch of road on the island.
