Mikri Vigla
The Verdict
Naxos' best all-round beach: sand, clear water, and a headland that gives you a choice between wind and shelter.
Why go
The point between the two bays splits the conditions: the south side is calmer and better for swimming, the north side catches the meltemi and belongs to the windsurfers and kitesurfers. Both are sandy and both have room to spread out, which the beaches closer to Chora do not in August. There is a taverna at the point, and a bus from town in season.
Understand the place
Two sandy beaches separated by a low headland on the west coast of Naxos, and the island's windsurfing centre.
