The Verdict
All the drama of Oia with a fraction of the foot traffic. Stay here, walk to Fira in half an hour, and go to Oia by bus once.
Why go
Imerovigli sits at the highest point of the caldera edge, looking straight down the cliffs to the water and up the rim toward Oia, with the Skaros rock and its ruined fortress in the middle of the view. It is quieter than Oia and closer to Fira, which makes dinner and the port manageable on foot. The walk along the rim to Fira takes thirty minutes and is the best thing to do on the island.
