The Verdict

One of the best-looking harbour towns in the Aegean, under a Venetian castle, with a beach on either side of it.

Why go

Myrina sits under a Venetian castle on a headland between two bays: on one side the harbour where the ferries come in, on the other the long sandy beach of Romeikos Gialos, with a market street and tavernas between them. It is unusually good-looking for a working port town, the castle on the rock above is free to climb to, and everything in it is ten minutes apart on foot.
