The Verdict

Essential for anyone hiking Olympus; skip it entirely if you're not.

Why go

Litochoro is a working mountain town, not a resort, and that's the point: gear shops, refuge bookings and trail information are all here, along with access to the Enipeas gorge's waterfalls and old watermills. The Prionia trailhead for the two-day summit route starts a short drive up. Stay here the night before an early start, not as a destination in itself.
