Lefkada Town

The Verdict

A lagoon-side town of wooden houses and a long waterfront, and the only Ionian capital you can drive to.

Why go

Lefkada Town sits on the lagoon side of the island, with the causeway to the mainland at one end, a marina at the other and a main street that goes pedestrian in the evening. The town has been rebuilt more than once after earthquakes, and the wooden upper floors and metal roofs that replaced the stone are now the local look. It is quiet in the morning, busy at nine at night, and convenient for both coasts.
