The Verdict

Worth a day for the caldera view and the hub logistics, but stay in Oia or Imerovigli instead if you want the postcard without the crowds.

Why go

Fira has the caldera view everyone comes for, plus the museums, the cable car to Skala Kamares port, and the bus station that connects to the rest of the island. It's also the busiest, loudest, most crowded strip of Santorini, packed with cruise-ship day-trippers from mid-morning to sunset. Go for the view and logistics, then retreat.
