Panagia Ekatontapyliani

The Verdict

The reason to spend an evening in Parikia rather than driving straight to Naoussa. An hour, and go in the late afternoon.

Why go

The church has been in continuous use for well over a thousand years, and the layers show: a domed basilica, a smaller chapel, a baptistery with a marble font big enough to stand in, and a courtyard of icons and fragments. There is usually a caretaker who will point out what matters. Then walk five minutes into the old town for dinner.
