The Verdict

Worth the detour for the acropolis and bay view, but the village itself is a summer tourist trap by midday.

Why go

The acropolis sits 116m above the village, combining a Doric Temple of Athena with Byzantine and Knights Hospitaller fortifications in one climb. The bay below, split by St. Paul's Bay, gives you a postcard double-cove view most of Rhodes can't match. Go early or in shoulder season — by 11am the lanes are shoulder-to-shoulder with day-trippers off coach tours.
