Greece, mapped day by day
Starting points, not prescriptions. Read these as the skeleton of a good trip, then adapt them to your dates and appetite. Each one is built from the places in this guide — and ends where the atlas ends and your planning begins.

The Classic Cyclades Week
The first-Greece trip we'd actually recommend: Athens for the Acropolis, then the two Cyclades islands that give you the postcard without the chaos — Naxos for beaches and villages, Santorini for the sunset you came for.

Crete in Ten Days
Greece's biggest island done properly — a loop from Chania's old harbor to the pink sand of Elafonissi, the lagoon of Balos, the Minoan palace of Knossos, and a finish in Heraklion. Needs a car and ten days; anything less shortchanges it.

The Mainland History Loop
The trip for travelers who've done the islands and want Greece's deepest history: Athens to the Bronze Age of Mycenae, the theater of Epidaurus, a romantic base in Nafplio, across to Olympia, up to Delphi, and finishing among the monasteries of Meteora. A car and eight days minimum.

A Quiet Cyclades Week
For travelers fleeing the Santorini crowds: foodie Sifnos, dramatic Milos, and a car-free finish on Hydra. Three islands, slow pacing, and the Cyclades without the chaos.

Athens + an Island
Short on time? Three nights in Athens for the Acropolis and the city, two on a close island — Hydra for a car-free escape. The minimum viable Greece trip.
