The Verdict

Worth an overnight for the harbour setting and castle walk, good value stop between the Peloponnese and central Greece.

Why go

The circular Venetian harbour, barely large enough for a few dozen boats, is one of the most intact small ports in Greece, with old cannons still lining the entrance. The castle above gives a long view over the Gulf of Corinth to the Peloponnese mountains opposite. It's a working town with real beaches nearby, not purely a stage set.
