The Verdict

The smaller island across the strait from Paros: one village, one very large cave, and a summer crowd that mostly goes home in the evening.

Why go

Antiparos is about the size of a large village and sits a five-minute ferry ride from Paros. There is one small chora with a main street of shops and tavernas, long sandy beaches at Psaraliki and Soros, and the cave of Antiparos descending into the hill above the south coast — a single chamber deep enough to walk down into, where visitors were already carving their names in the eighteenth century. It is quiet by day and social at night, and it empties almost completely in winter.
