The Ancient Theatre of Milos

The Verdict

Twenty minutes of ruins, then the best hour on Milos: the fishing village below it at sunset.

Why go

The theatre is modest, with weathered rows of seats and a view over the bay that explains why anyone built it here. Almost nobody visits, so you can walk down through the seating alone. Go in the late afternoon, then take the short track down to Klima, where the boat houses are painted in the island's own colours and the sun sets straight across the water.
